November 2017 - The campaign for Christmas lights at the Corringham Town Centre has had some excellent news.  The subcommittee was successful in securing a grant via Thurrock Council.  The CEDF grant of £24,688.80 will enable the purchase and installation of new Christmas lights for the buoyant town.  In addition, sizeable donations have been received from DP World, Thames Oil Port, Morrison's, Martins McCoy and many more local traders.  A full list of donators will be published soon.

October 2017Corringham, Fobbing and Homesteads Community Forum have had a boost from a local Primary school in their campaign to raise funds for new Christmas lights at the town centre.  Forum Members  are working with local traders, businesses and the community to give the town centre a festive boost and renew the redundant lights that are no longer usable.   The forum sub-committee are hopeful of receiving some external funding, but this will only bear fruit if the community have already raised a portion.

Staff, parents and pupils at Corringham Primary School were keen to support this local project and held two events to raise funds; a Teddy Bears’ picnic and a Film Night. Altogether they raised an impressive £349, giving the campaign a great boost.

Secretary of the Forum said “Raising funds for the Christmas lights is a massive commitment, but this contribution from the children at Corringham Primary has made a big difference. I’d like to thank Tracey Lawrence at the school for facilitating these events, Hazel Parr for co-ordinating them, but most of all the parents and children at Corringham Primary for supporting us. Corringham is such a great community with a lot to offer.”

Corringham, Fobbing and Homesteads Community Forum meets monthly at Corringham Hall in Springhouse Road. They campaign on local issues, forge links with external providers and work to strengthen the community. October’s meeting is on the 9th and after that they meet on Monday 13th November at 7.30pm. Further information can be found at www.thurrockcommuntyforums.org.uk or on the Forum’s Facebook page.

July 2017 - the forum is raising funds to bring back Christmas lights to Corringham Town Centre.  Over £1000 has been pledged from local traders and £145 donated by local residents.  If we reach our target of £2000 we will be able to apply for a grant for the balance.  Please support the campaign if you can, via JustGiving.

June 2017 - hanging baskets have now been distributed to the shops at Corringham Town Centre, making it an attractive place to be.  Thanks to the barrow boys for supplying these, John Fox for organising them and the local traders for watering.

Summer 2017 - the Forum is proud to fund these planters in Corringham, to enhance the local area. Our thanks to member Brenda Scott and  her husband for planting these and looking after them so faithfully.
